Stella Argyris (Galaxy Mage) - Canon OC - Disgaea 3: Absence of Justice (1 of 1)

[personal profile] nerveball 2014-03-15 06:20 am (UTC)(link)
PLAYER INFORMATION
Name: Espilan

Existing Characters: Bunny the Honeywhite

CHARACTER INFORMATION
Name: Stella Argyris
Species: Demon / Job: Student / Class: Galaxy Mage
Age: 1419

Canon Info:
http://disgaea.wikia.com/wiki/Disgaea_3:_Absence_of_Justice — Used for the setting only; Stella is being given absolutely no relevance to anything in the game at all; she's simply another student at the Evil Academy, one that honestly doesn't quite fit in due to her personality (but that same personality is why she's even there in the first place).

Character History
:
Stella is a Galaxy Mage who had been sent to Maritsu Evil Academy from a different Netherworld, primarily as an effort by her parents to change her from a nervous but strangely well-adjusted girl to one a bit more demon-like in personality. She was housed with a pair of other girls, a Cleric named Lumina and her younger sister, the Archer Kyrie. Lumina herself was a calm, collected, and rather polite individual most of the time, effectively convincing Stella over time that there wasn't anything really wrong with the way she acted and unintentionally completely ruining what the mage girl's parents had sent her there for in the first place. Whoops. Kyrie, on the other hand, simply made things terribly awkward at times with her bluntness, extremely forward personality, and frighteningly-accurate estimations of Stella's clothing sizes. That or she simply dug through Stella's belongings a few too many times and memorized the sizes as they were marked on the tags.

The trio were members—and surprisingly not the only members—of one of the Evil Academy's dorkiest clubs, the tabletop club, whose goals were to waste time roleplaying instead of doing schoolwork. Naturally, since it was a club that involved being a nerd, Stella and the other members of the club were subjected to quite a bit of teasing and mockery. While most of the others generally shrugged it off, it did contribute to Stella's nervousness, and in fact marked the start of her overall discomfort around others.

Lumina was the club's head and acted as the DM in most sessions. Stella's own character in these sessions was an enigmatic swordswoman... enigmatic only because Stella could never quite settle on the character's history and personality, making the character behave differently and tell her companions a new origin story almost every three sessions. Although it was rare, the club also engaged in LARP sessions. In the Item World. Often dressed as their characters and attepting to emulate those characters' skills for real on the Item World's residents. Woe to those who would find themselves on the receiving end of a Blade Rush from Stella. Or woe to Stella herself for even attempting it; her character's preferred sword—the one detail that managed to remain consistent—was really quite heavy. Sometimes, those LARP sessions would take place elsewhere, usually being a random location picked out at the Dimensional Gate.

Due to Stella's overall discomfort around others, this club ended up being more or less the extent of her social life, and she was okay with that despite the club itself being the catalyst for the teasing and ridicule that gave her that discomfort in the first place. Outside of the tabletop club, her school life was pretty typical, as in she largely skipped class to hang around the few people she didn't feel uncomfortable with. She rarely interacted with other students otherwise, especially not those who happened to have any sort of reputation.

Personality
:
nervous
Stella is a rather nervous girl, very frequently under the impression that something dangerous is about to occur, which to be fair, considering the world she's a part of, is probably true. Her worries aren't based on any single thing that she might be afraid of, however; she's simply just fearful in general. That's not to say that she doesn't have specific fears, because she most certainly does: she's really quite quite uncomfortable around others and sensitive about what they think, and makes no secret of the fact that she has a fear of being rejected or ridiculed by her peers—which in turn often causes most of her peers to ridicule her, although not to the extent that she tends to expect. Additionally, she has a fear of harming others, which holds her back when it comes to improving as a Galaxy Mage.

distant
Thanks mostly to her discomfort and fears when it comes to dealing with others, Stella is often seen by others as a distant and reserved individual, a girl who hardly ever tries to reach out and rarely expresses anything other than fear. To avoid putting herself into any uncomfortable positions, she largely prefers total privacy or the security of a small but trusted group; anything too noisy or involving a group too large overwhelms her completely and she may either freeze up or attempt to excuse herself and escape to a comfortable distance. She does not talk very much most of the time, and is more of a follower rather than any kind of leader, although she can and will take charge in a situation if she absolutely must. She also does not particularly enjoy helping others unless they are trusted individuals, and for those she does not trust, it's considered a waste of her time unless there is by some small chance something in it for her. Despite this, again due to worrying about how others view her, she often goes ahead with fulfilling their requests anyway, so long as they're determined to be reasonable by her own personal standards.

guarded
Despite her feelings when it comes to others, Stella does operate under the silly assumption that people are honest—not necessarily fair on account of what is considered socially-acceptable in the Netherworld, but honest. She does, however, still believe that a certain amount of deception is necessary in day-to-day interactions and social relationships, even the few that she willingly subjects herself to. She is also rather guarded when it comes to meeting new people, and is not particularly willing to talk much about herself, which is due to her concerns over ridicule, and when she does talk about herself, she doesn't talk herself up very much for the same reason.

and secretly normal all along
When left by herself or in the company of individuals that she trusts or sees no reason to be afraid of, she feels free to finally relax, and during this time she can be seen as a surprisingly well-adjusted girl: being polite to those around her, rarely actually speaking negatively of anyone, and taking interest in completely mundane things that most demons would consider boring (or worse, nerdy). She is particularly interested in painting, where she simply needs a bit of practice to be halfway decent, and roleplaying of the tabletop variety, which she's honestly pretty bad at. If she weren't obviously a demon, she would hardly belong in this or any other Netherworld.

Everything tends to go out the window if she starts roleplaying as her horribly-inconsistent tabletop character, though. Thankfully, that only happens during actual sessions.

Abilities:
• Stella is a Galaxy Mage. As such, she knows the three basic elemental spells—Fire, Wind, and Ice—as well as the non-elemental spell Star, along with the support magic Braveheart and Magic Boost. Despite being able to go into the middle tiers of offensive magic, she only ever uses their basic forms. If she does delve into the higher tiers, she loses quite a bit of range in exchange for something only slightly more-damaging than the spells she's had far more practice with. However, she's held back quite a bit by her unwillingness to actually hurt people, so it takes quite a lot to push her into casting anything unless it's for utility purposes.
• To keep her in-line with her actual in-game counterpart—my canon OCs tend to be based on my actual parties—I would like for her to start dabbling in healing and defensive magic at some point as well—not immediately, of course. Mods, please tell me if that's acceptable or not.

As stated, she also has interests in painting and roleplaying and participates in them at times, but she's not particularly good at them:
• In the case of painting, she mostly just hasn't had enough practice.
• In the case of roleplaying, she has some rather glaring issues that none of the other members of the club could ever bring themselves to call her out on. Consistency is the big one; literally the only thing about her tabletop character that remains unchanged between sessions is the weapon used.

Sample:
Some playercest-y thread between Stella and Kyrie. I didn't want to throw up a post somewhere in the hopes of getting threads from other people, but I didn't want to throw together an introspective thing either. Hopefully this is OK?

Anything Else?
• Stella's arrival at the apparently-broken Dimensional Gate here will be played off as an accident that occurred when using Maritsu's own Gate; she was trying to go out for one of the club's sessions.
Kyrie makes life awkward.

It might take her awhile to work up the nerves to try to even organize any kind of session because she's not used to DMing, but yes this NEEDS to be a thing at some point.

CHARACTER INFORMATION
Name: Pidonus Marasia
Species/Job/Class/Title: Succubus Bard
Age: 22 (in effective age and effective maturity - has existed as a succubus for four years after her human life ended at 18)
World Info:
The infinite planes of existence often produce weird corners - places where things just seem a little bit different from other dimensions. This is true even amongst the myriad planes of the endless Great Wheels - each centered on material planes that, for all their differences, almost always seem to share a bunch of themes, like many varieties of Elf (some of whom insist on being called “Eladrin”), Dwarves who tend to have Scottish accents and a thing for stoneworking, Gnomish illusionists, and, of course, large dungeons that regularly have a dragon sitting at the bottom.

The world of Alivinaria is considered a strange corner among dimension-walkers amongst the Great Wheels and the greater planescape that seems to link all of them (except when it doesn’t). A place where beings known elsewhere as Outsiders - great elementals, angels, devils and demons - are more active, but often much stranger influences. While many of the familiar patterns are present, the Outsiders often act differently than one would expect. For every roving horde of demons out to end the universe, there’s several guided by other objectives - some will even fight their bretheren to protect the world for their own purposes.

It certainly doesn’t help that this is a world that seems to be aware that it runs on the rules of a role-playing game - where individuals are aware of their stats and how they influence their actions, where obscure prestige classes are found in third-party supplements scattered around the world, and where things have been a little screwy ever since this “Pathfinder” system started cropping up. It looks so compatible, but really so many messes have ensued because of it alone…

While there are plenty of strange details to discus of this world, let’s zoom in on a fragment thereof - a particularly fine example of how things go around here. In most Great Wheel worlds, Succubi are demons, bent on seducing mortals to ruin and driven by naught more than hatred. In Alivinaria, they’re instead devils, created by the followers of the Pact Primeval to seduce mortals towards the path of dark conquest by embodying mortal desires. The problem basically came about when the first five Succubi known to the world went forth and immediately realized that mortal desire ran so wide of a gamut as to be essentially inscrutable in the abstract sense. Forced to adapt, the beings began going forth - first just those four, then many others created afterwards from the souls of some of those bound to hell. Societies of the beings formed, individuals sunk into mortal society, some becoming so focused on one or another desire that they basically lost sight of the whole ‘use desire to tempt mortals to ruin’ thing, while others remained committed to the cause, and still others warped it to their own ends. Some even shifted so far as to essentially speciate, gaining and losing abilities to match up with variants seen in third-party supplements.

The results, to put it lightly, were a little chaotic for the tastes of the Lawful-aligned devils, even if it was producing results. Ultimately, the experiment had begun to move on its own, and the Devils, besides occasionally trying to eliminate ‘traitors’, basically moved on, taking what advantage they could from the experiment, even as some of the Succubi began to pursue ambitions all their own - some managing to become powerful enough to self-style themselves as Succubus Queens, gaining influence over lessers of their kind, some even managing to forge small personal realms with their power. Suffice it to say, they tend to squabble over who is the “True” Queen of their kind, causing regular trouble and adventure hooks across the entire alignment spectrum.

Character History:
Riana Falconerson was born with potential. Smart, witty, and dextrous, it was obvious to her human merchant parents that she had great potential as an adventurer - particularly, potentially, a Bard, master of the song and spell. They found her a teacher at a young age, and she indeed took to the art of performance naturally, getting her first Perform rank (in String instruments, of course) at the tender age of eight, and progressing rapidly from there. Someone of her talent was likely to become a star performer, capable of performing for kings and councils the world over. Or perhaps her path would take her down the risky but rewarding path of an adventuring bard, chronicler of the legends she herself would help create.

With a setup like this, of course things were going to go horrifically wrong somehow. And how wrong it went when it did. Not long before Riana would have gained her first level in Bard, the invasion came. Orcish worshippers of one of the Demon Lords (she never did find out which one) invaded her city, bent on capturing sacrifices to their dark god - a fate certain to be worse than the mere death brought upon Riana’s parents and many of her childhood friends. By sheer luck, she was rounded up with her teacher, and he had managed to hide a magic item from them - one of no modest power, no less. Quite simply, whoever broke the item - a magic stick - would be guaranteed an escape from their predicament of one or another sort. He handed the item to her, and told her to use it, and try to stop the orcs somehow.

Upon breaking the stick, Riana found herself suddenly in a strange-looking room. A soft bed, blushed colors, a small bathroom with a toilet and shower, and one locked door as the only visible exit. Confused at her new captivity, Riana looked around for a minute, before a figure walked into the room. It would only be a minute afterwards that Riana learned that her "new best friend" was actually a Succubus - a devil of desire, and servant of one self-styled Succubus Queen. Surprisingly, she was sympathetic to Riana’s plight - not just because she had suddenly lost all she had ever known, but because it was at the hands of the hated enemies of all devilkind. Immediately, Riana was brought before the Queen, who insisted only on the moniker of Myey. (No sane devil ever offers their true name if they can avoid it, for true names have a special power.)

Myey immediately established two things - first, that Riana wanted vengeance on the Orcs, and to stop them from sacrificing the survivors of her village. Second, that Myey also did not want the Orcs succeeding in their dark task. It seemed the opportunity for an arrangement. Myey would offer Riana a simple choice. Riana could take the path of the adventurer - Myey would drop her off at a major city with enough gold to get started as a Bard, so she could join an adventuring party and stop the orcs. But that might not be enough, and it would take time - time Riana possibly didn’t have. Alternatively, Myey could take Riana’s soul and name, in return for turning her into a Succubus - and guaranteeing that she would be strong enough, and given the opportunity, to take the Orcs down. Of course, taking that offer would be a totally stupid idea that no sane adventuress would take, given how devil transformation normally was an agonizing several years of-

“If you can get me there within this day, and grant me at least some semblance of the happiness I otherwise will never feel again, then I accept,” Riana declared. “Nothing is more important than saving the people of the town to me. Nothing.”

Myey grinned, walking towards the girl and embracing her. “Then welcome to being an NPC,” the Succubus declared, before her hands shifted into claws and cut into Riana, ending her mortal life.

… Naturally, while this would count as a Bad End, it was not the end for the girl. The succubus known as Pidonus Marasia woke up a surprisingly short time later, barely recalling anything from her previous eighteen years of life. Recreated as one of Myey’s devil minions, Pidonus had several powers normally meant to be used to seduce mortals into the service of devils - but conveniently perfect for fighting low-level Orcs, particularly with a few nice powerful temporary magical enhancements, as demonstrated when she promptly visited their encampment and began slicing her way through them, only vaguely recalling that she had problems with them besides that they were worshipping her kind’s hated foe. Only when one of the townsfolk asked how ‘Riana' had gained so much power so quickly did she stop, vague memories surfacing enough for it to dawn on her, ever so slightly, just what she’d done.

“One soul lost to save the village,” she said, laughing ever so slightly, staring at the blood on her claws as they shifted back into hands. “Totally worth it.”

And then, the last of the Orcish invaders slain and the townsfolk released, she fled, unwilling to face the sadness in the eyes of those she had just saved - painfully able to comprehend what she’d truly given up, even as she wanted to forget; she returned to her Queen’s lair, crying and afraid, half-stammering that she was crazy, she had to be, why else had she let herself…

A single finger went on her lips, silencing Pidonus instantly. “Foolish, perhaps. Crazy, maybe. You have suffered for your choice, yes. But not by it as much as by what demonkind has wrought upon you, I would wager - for it was their followers who took so much from you as to make your choice seem reasonable, even for a minute. And I would further wager that the net result of this choice isn’t all bad. As long as you can make them pay, you can take your one mistake, and make something beautiful out of it. As long as you can revel in your powers, you can be fine with the cost you paid for them. And if you can’t, I’ll just have to find another way to bring you the last term of the bargain, my little minion.”

The words didn’t put Pidonus’ worries about herself aside, but they convinced her that the best thing she could do was try to revel in her form. Two nights later, she’d started her first scheme - choosing to target potential demon followers, using her natural powers of influence to face them down, weakening the Abyss’ creations while strengthening her Queen, accepting her guidance and slowly convincing herself that this was right - that the tools of evil were the best tool to fight the much darker evils of the Abyss, that mortals were weak and to be used as much as protected, that only in service to Myey would Pidonus find happiness.

Perhaps, over the year that passed, over the victories, over the abuse of her abilities, she really had convinced herself that she’d done the right thing. Certainly, she no longer regretted the choice - indeed, she’d forgotten more and more of her human memories entirely, and was glad for it.

Then he showed up. Her former mentor, out to hunt down devils - not surprising, given their own capacity for evil, after all. Devils weren’t called Devils pointlessly, and Pidonus herself had grown to embody this over time. But still, her teacher - a talented Bard, with his associates - found one of her conspiracies, facing down those she had influenced and breaking them from her spells. Infuriated, she tried to fight him… And promptly got the crap beaten out of her. Dropped to the single-digit HP, she was forced to flee, a great plan completely ruined, cursing the name of one of her few surviving mortal friends.

Again and again, they clashed - a wizened old(ish) man and a crazed young woman, both talents each bent on breaking the other into accepting their views. Every time, Pidonus’ scheme of the week - just one distraction among the busy life of her former teacher’s adventuring party - was stopped. Every time, he had tried to reach out to her - to convince her that she could find a way back to who she had been. Every time, she rebuffed his hopes - she’d sold her soul and paid the price, and for it, the world had, in her warped view, benefitted. To abandon the power she’d attained - what would be the point? It wouldn’t undo what she’d done - what had been taken from them both. Her hometown and she herself were better off with her staying away, she declared every time before fleeing.

Still, he persisted. Still, she rebuffed. And so on, as he went on to fighting Myey’s other servants - hoping, ultimately, to end the Queen herself, in hopes that doing that would convince Pidonus to try and reclaim herself.

Where this will end isn’t yet certain, even three entire years into the Bard’s Quest - for both sides of the conflict have grown strong, and the circumstances beyond have grown more complex… And now the whole damn story’s on hold because of some bratty antenna-haired ‘Overlord’ yanking a certain key NPC out of her world - out of her Great Wheel, and for that matter all of the Great Wheels.

Pidonus won’t be happy about that.

2/3 (and then I realized I didn't need 3... Oh well)

[personal profile] have_hat_will_travel 2014-03-25 10:09 pm (UTC)(link)

Personality:
To put it lightly, Pidonus isn’t a sane individual by most standards. All it took to break her was one bad day, and she has hardly started to recover since then. The dominant influences in her life - fellow Succubi, some of whom sold their own souls for far lesser causes - certainly haven’t been very helpful in building a healthy mindset, convincing her that mortal beings are inherently lesser than herself. Nor can Myey, the haughty self-styled ‘Succubus Queen’ Pidonus surrendered her soul and self to, claim to be a positive influence, pushing Pidonus towards a petty, hedonistic path. Perhaps the least healthy influence on the Succubus’ mindset, however, is herself and her growing sense of failure. While she doesn’t - perhaps can’t - doubt that her choice was the right thing, she has constantly fallen into doubt that her schemes can succeed as long as her former mentor continues to try and turn her away from the path she walks. (Perhaps he is convinced that she can regain her humanity. Perhaps he’s even right.)

Pidonus, even after her transformation gave her a boost to her Wisdom score, is frankly a fair bit of a fool. While she certainly isn’t stupid - indeed, she is both knowledgeable and witty - she is prone to rash decisions that tend to guide her in the wrong direction, especially whenever her elaborate plans get put to the test. The munchkinly decision to tie her force of will to her intellect, rather than working on her weak spot, hasn’t precisely paid off, a fact that deeply frustrates her and cracks her confident front quite easily - especially under pressure. It didn’t take much to crack her the first time, and she really, really hasn’t gotten better about it.

When not under pressure, however, Pidonus seems to have learned to be happy again - in part by literally forgetting the horrors of her past, but also by consciously choosing to just enjoy herself when given a chance. There’s so many weak-willed mortals to look down upon and use for her own fun, so many powers both inherent to herself and learned over time to enjoy, so much loot to steal… Who has time for depression amidst all the fun there is to have??? Suffice it to say, while she is usually working on one scheme or another in a vague sense, just as often she’s just doing things for the heck of it, setting tiny seeds for long-term payoffs, or just for the fun of it. (Unfortunately, her default solution when one of her powers doesn’t help her out of a predicament is usually to try more power. Only after getting the crap beaten out of her is she smart enough to get the hell away. Hopefully someone will warn her that her greater teleport ability doesn’t work in the Netherworld before she tries it in a panic.)

In spite of her disdain for mortals, Pidonus knows she sold her soul for power to protect them, in a warped sense, even if she seeks to corrupt them to serve her goals and those of her Queen. She is not a cruel, wrathful, or typically vengeful sort, and views the tendency for devils to be such as rather hilariously pathetic. (… Never mind that she’s just as impulsive in her own way. She’s a little sort on self-awareness.) That doesn’t mean she won’t mess with people for the heck of it - just that she won’t aim to ruin their lives horrifically if they don’t serve demons and are not in her way.

Pidonus’ greatest joy, besides destroying demons and their plots, is music. There is a primal power in it that strikes both mortal and immortal alike, and while it may not be the greatest source of arcane power, it is the most interesting source to her. Indeed, her interest in music defines her class build and many other elements of her character sheet - including her entire build being based around Bardic prestige classes, allowing her to create great feats of music.

The idea of friendship is something Pidonus understands - but doesn’t really appreciate. When a friend can be made with little more than a thought through her magics, honestly-earned friendships hardly seem worth the trouble to form - especially with lesser beings. (Suffice it to say, that point’s going to get hammered pretty quick in the Netherworld.)

Abilities:
It’s good to start Pidonus’ description with a note that her world literally runs on the Dungeons and Dragons rules, and the people of the setting know it. In the tradition of several fantasy webcomics, the characters in-universe are aware of this - some of the people of this particular world even recognize the story tropes typical to the settings that the games run on. (Pidonus… Not so much. Thus why she doesn’t really catch on that she’s one of the villains.)

Pidonus’ abilities as a Succubus tend to be her most commonly-used talents.
+ In her own world, Pidonus is capable of summoning a couple of devils once a day. This doesn’t work here, because even contacting them from the Netherworld is a long-distance call and those are way too expensive.
+ Pidonus can intuitively read and speak any language, or just communicate telepathically to people within a hundred feet.
+ Pidonus can shapechange to any ‘Small’ or ‘Medium’ humanoid shape (i.e. from about the size of a gnome to the size of a half-orc). These changes include clothing and magic items.
+ Pidonus has several magical abilities (known to her as “Spell-Like Abilities”). Charm Monster lets her ‘convince’ a sentient creature that she is their friend and causes them to think favorably of her words (unless she or an ally of hers attacks them). Suggestion lets her convince someone that a specific thing she says is true unless it is obviously false, or convinces someone to do something that sounds reasonable(ish). Detect Good does exactly what it sounds like… And if used on Flonne, may daze Pidonus. (That is actually written into the spell’s mechanics.) Detect Thoughts is a mind-reading spell (requiring concentration to use - it’s different from her telepathic communication in that telepathy requires the person specifically think a response, while Detect Thoughts lets her read other thoughts.) Ethereal Jaunt lets Pidonus “hide" in the Ethereal plane, a mirror of the Material Plane. (This one might not work, I’m not sure). Greater Teleport is a great panic-button escape that will completely fail to work in the Netherworld. (She’s gonna hate that so much.)
+ Pidonus can drain energy from people with a kiss or ‘act of passion’. (“Hooray highly ambiguous PG-13 word choices in the ruleset.”)
+ Pidonus has some Damage Reduction and Natural Armor. Put simply, her skin is tough to break, and attacks not holy in nature or originated from cold-forged iron weapons will partially regenerate in a matter of seconds.
+ Pidonus’ forms can have wings, allowing her to fly at around 40 miles an hour, with okay maneuverability. No hovering like Disgaea succubi do.
+ Poison and Electricity have basically effect on Pidonus, and she’s fairly resistant to cold, acid, and fire.
+ Pidonus’ nails can sharpen into claws (they’re not really that good of weapons though).
+ Pidonus does not need to eat, drink or sleep (but does require some sort of downtime between days to regain her spells).

As a Bard (9th level), Pidonus has a fair number of other talents, as well:
+ Pidonus has a knack for figuring out how things work on the fly, able to guess her way through skills at least a modest amount of the time.
+ Pidonus can, when performing music (she favors string instruments but can also sing), produce some proto-magical effects, drawing the attention of a few people to her, inspiring courage in (and enhancing the attacks of) allies, convincing fascinated people of something she says, or inspiring great valor in (and enhancing the defenses of) one ally.
+ Pidonus can cast a short stack of arcane spells; while she has no attack or direct combat magic, she does have a couple of single-target healing spells, a spell that speeds her allies for just under a minute, and several other tricks of various use.

Abilities that will be tied to a permissions post and/or context-specific asks:
Shapechanging to mimic someone
Charming them
Suggestions on them
Reading their thoughts

Weaknesses:
- Painfully low Wisdom score. She figured that the Keen Intellect feat, which lets her use Intelligence for will saves and several skill checks, would keep her safe… But in reality, Pidonus has a strong tendency to make very foolish decisions unless she takes time to think things through. Along with a belief that her logic is impeccable, even when it is plainly obvious to others that it isn’t.
- Pidonus has the Lawful and Evil subtypes - so effects powered by Chaos or Good are super-effective on her.
- Pidonus is also vulnerable to cold-forged iron weapons; when she recognizes them, she actually will become flat-out scared.
- Pidonus is a fraidycat in practice. When a fight breaks out, she’s quick to flee or even surrender. Suffice it to say, she’s probably going to get beaten up a lot in the Netherworld...

Sample:

This wasn’t like home. Pidonus knew that much already. She’d managed to get at least a few answers about the place easily enough from one of the peg-legged penguins, who was begging Pidonus not to throw it for some odd reason. Was she supposed to throw them or something?

The people here called themselves “demons”, but they weren’t like the Abyssal threats of her world. They looked, and in many ways, acted more like mortals, and while there was certainly plenty of chaos in their lives, there were also clear, almost familiar hierarchies. There was no counterpart threat, though; just demons, angels, and humans.

It was like Law and Chaos just weren’t things around here. That was more than a little troubling to her, to say the least.

The mechanics, too; they were completely different. Fourteen main stats instead of six, the levels went much, much higher with tinier benefits per level - that seemed kind of boring - just three energy types (and wind was one of them???)… It was a strange experience, especially compared to how she’d heard that most of the Great Wheels across the endless cosmos used the same basic rules, with regional variations.

Never mind how all her abilities seemed to have jumped over fine. And never mind how her personal quest on behalf of her Queen was interrupted. And never mind how…

“I am going to hate this place so, so very much, aren’t I?”, she finally said aloud to no one in particular, slowly sauntering down one of the halls, looking oddly at the Succubus passing her.

The Succubi. Right. They were different here too. For one, they could somehow hover and almost never actually walked anywhere. That seemed odd to her, especially when they still chose to wear boots that accentuated the legs more when you were walking… And so very little else. When it came to showing skin, less was more sometimes, Pidonus had learned. Never mind how they didn't seem to be as focused on any particular purpose, either... That seemed more common here.

Now, if she could just figure out where the heck she was supposed to be going to find something to do around these parts...

Anything Else?
Pidonus will likely, after a few incidents of confusing everyone, stop talking about her world’s mechanics… But only after she’s been established in a few character’s minds as insane.
